Meagan and Benjamin Tackle Kinderplatz

Well, the day has finally come...our sweet boy will be joining his sister at Kinderplatz. Ms. McMillian will be his teacher this year. He was so excited to be going to school...that is until we got there. He cried for a few minutes and then decided that he could be a big boy. Ms. McMillian said he had a great first day! Way to go Benjamin!




Meagan started out in Ms. Bennett's room this morning and gave her teachers great big hugs when she saw them. Meagan's biggest admirer, Aiden, was there at the door to give his girl a big hello! Meagan loves being back in school.

This is the perfect description of our middle child this summer. If the sun is up...then it is time to put on a bathing suit. They are comfy and very versatile!

Fond Thoughts

Well, we are having a great tomato season. I can not go out to our garden without thinking about Paul's dad, Tom. We lost Tom early this year to lung cancer and we all miss him so much. If you knew one thing about Tom, it was that he could never turn down a nice looking tomato. He would be proud of us for having such a great crop!

Comfy Quarters

Thank you, Poppy and Mimi for my new dog bed! It is the perfect place to chew on my favorite bone.

Thunderstorm Aftermath

Finally....after weeks of being "scared of rain and the dark" our sweet Ben sleeps quietly in his bed with all of the necessary friends in order to have a good night sleep. Sweet dreams, baby boy!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

"What can we do"? "When is school"? These have been the burning questions coming out of our little Meg this week! She is ready to return to her school! Come on, Sept 4th! Finally, she has decided that she is having "girl time" with Sadie.

I've been wondering tonight why my little curly q wasn't asleep. As I rounded the corner with my camera, I found out why! That silly Leapster is really easy to play in the dark! Silly Meg, go to sleep!

Rollerskating Maniac

"Go, Ben, Go" is what you would of heard if you'd been at our house last weekend. These rollerskates have been shared in the family for years. I know it will especially make Jim and Moyane smile since I am pretty sure they came from their house. Nothing like good ole' rollerskates that adjust to almost any shoe size!

Anyways, Ben is a natural. WAY TO GO. BENNY BOY!

Our "Grader"

Madison ended her summer vacation with Mommy at the uniform shop. Now that she is "a grader" as she says, we had some shopping to do. Paul and I can't believe we have a child old enough to be in the first grade! Ms. Cantrell will be Madi's teacher this year and we couldn't be happier. She is only a few steps away from Mrs. Newton's class, but we are definitely making our way up the lower school hallway. Madison is learning Spanish and Chinese this year and hopefully Paul and I will be able to keep up with her studies.

OUR SADIE GIRL

Our summer was full of fun, but the highlight was getting to finally bring home our baby girl, Sadie, to join our family on Father's Day weekend. She was born April 13th and now is on her way to being a big girl. She was finally old enough for us to take her out into the big world to explore and meet new friends. She had a blast at the lake and at the dog park. Needless to say, she slept in the car all the way home!

Madison's 7th Birthday

Madison and her good friend, Morgan, celebrated their 7th birthday together this year at the hip Sweet and Sassy Salon off of Hulen Street. The party started with the hot pink limo picking all of the girls up and delivering them to the salon in style. Princess dresses, hair and make-up as well as glitter were the main ingredients to a good time.Thanks to all who came. I know Madison enjoyed her day.

An Experience to Remember

I had the opportunity to join Madison at Kamp Kanakuk this year as a registered nurse. Actually, I was at K-2 and she was at K-7, which was only a few hundred yards from where I was stationed. I was assigned to boys ages 13-18. I was a little nervous when I found that out, but that was short-lived. When I entered the health center, which was not air-conditioned, I met my fellow nurse for the week. Her name was Shellia and she was a hoot. This summer was her 11th year at camp, so I was in good hands. As the week progressed, I was exposed to all kinds of fun including swimming, lake fun, and the great game, Settlers of Catan. If you love games, this one is for you! We spent many hours at night playing and all getting to know one another. I met kids from all over the U.S. and even had one tennis player from Italy. I had never met such polite, handsome boys. I was very impressed with their manners and the consideration that they had for one another. Since it was a sports camp, there were many injuries. There were three other nurses in our health center, which had backgrounds in Parrish nursing, a allergy nurse and a community health nurse. With my med/surg and ICU experience, we made ONE pretty good brain as we all worked together. The doctor at our camp, Chris Pruett, was a pleasure to work with. He was a general surgeon from St. Louis. He brought his family, which included his wife and six children. What a great family man! Thank you, Kanakuk, for the awesome experience.

Madison spent a week this summer at Kamp Kanakuk in Lampe, Missouri. Not only did she spend a week away from home, but she spent a week sleeping in a tepee with nine other girls and three counselors. What a fun time she had! Her days were filled with water sports, games, activities at the lake and learning about the Bible. Her favorite thing she learned was the saying, "I'm third." She learned that "God is first, others second and that I'm third." She met girls from all over the United States and was lucky to have been placed in the same tepee with a girl from Rockwall, Texas. Hopefully, they will coordinate next summer so they can see one another again.

sadie's day to leave the nest

Welcome to our family, Miss Green! We finally got to bring home our baby girl today. She came home to plenty of toys and a kennel that could hold a horse! We are naming our baby girl Sadie. She loves playing and chewing on anything that moves. She is like a leaping bunny in our backyard.

Wow, look at that pretty little Miss Green! We are in love with this girl! The kids just love going over to Carrie's house in Dallas to look at the puppies and play with the older dogs. Ben is ready to take this one home today!

Meagan shows off her many muscial skills at the Kinderplatz end of year school program. She would much rather play and dance over singing. Thanks to all of Meg's great teachers and to her personal favorite playmate, Ms. Melendy, for all the fun afternoons exploring and cooking.

Spring Play

"The Great Fuzz Frenzy" was the spring play that Madison's class performed this year. We were so proud of Madison for singing and acting out her part so well. Meagan, Paul and I enjoyed her performance!
